Checking My Stock Ideas

Sorry i keep posting and then changing my mind but i've finaly come up with a list that i really like and just wanted to check with others to see compatability and if i would be over stocked

So my tank is 100Lx30Dx40H cm and I was wondering how this sounded for a final stocking list? .. I'm making somewhat of a micro tank
1 Male Platy
2 Female Platties
5 Male Guppies
10 Female Guppies
6 Pygmy Corry Cats (I'm not sure how easy these guys are too get hold of near me though)
6 Threadfin Rainbowfish (Same with these guys)
3 Ghost Shrimp (not sure how much these guys need factoring into the stocking list?)

So how does that sound as a final stock list? are there any forseeable issues etc.?


Oh and also just a question from curiosity- When i put my arm in the other tank to move things around all the Barbs and the paradise fish come and bite my arm- does anybody find this with their fish?

It sounds fine, but are you sure about having female livebearers? They will have lot of babies and they can be very difficult to get ris of; most shops won't take them, and you can end up over-run (and overstocked) with them very quickly; each of those guppies will have 30 or 40 fry every 30 days; that could leave you with 500 babies to re-home somehow, just in a month or two. I'd go with all males if I were you.

it's quite common to be 'mouthed' by your fish, barbs do seem to be the worst for nibbling at arms; my tigers actually hurt if they get you up in the inside of your elbow!

Glad the lsit works

I've thought about that already- for the most part my tank is reasonable bare so there aren't that many hiding places so that in its self will limit how many survive also one of my platies already gave birth (I didn't find out quite how quickly the breed until after i got a few female livebarers-If i could swap them back i would but they won't take them back now) and the shrimps had a field day- activly hunting them down which will also cut the numbers quite a bit. So combining that with the fact that the other fish will also eat them if they catch them, I hope my numbers won't get too high

It's kinda cruel not rescuing but it is still nature so if they do servive then they're worth keeping and looking after and i figure not that many will survive this way and i should be able to sort a place for them

Since i already got a number of females i want to keep the numbers balanced so they don't get too harrassed- though is it possible to lower the female guppy numbers and raise the males with out too many problems? Say even number of males to females or even more males to females?

It feels like little kisses until my paradise fish gets me- then it hurts ;p
