Hi there,
I started cycling my 30 gal community tank on March 1. Here are the readings I got prior to adding ammonia (And once I added the ammonia)
I just wanted to get your opinions to make sure I'm reading my stats right (As I have a weird paranoia that I'm not)
I ought an API Master test kit sometime between August and October 2013.

As I read this picture:
pH: 7.6+
High Range pH: 7.8-8.0
Ammonia: 0-.25 (Hard to read in this picture)
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate:0
(I was just bringing the high pH to attention in this picture, but I've always had a high pH so it's no big deal.)

Here's the ammonia reading when I added 6 +/- 2 ml of Goldex brand household Ammonia

I read it as ~1.5 ppm. I added another 4 ml, but didn't re-test, I hypothesize the reading would have been closer to 4.0 ppm with the addition of that much more ammonia.

Here are the readings I got today;

I read it as:
Ammonia: 0.50 ppm
Nitrite: 0.25-0.50 ppm (Opinions welcome, I say it's 0.25. Hubby said it's 0.50. [I don't know why I believe him, he's colour blind to blue/purple])
Nitrate: 0.50 ppm

In your opinions are my colour-reading abilities accurate?
Is this odd for having started cycling just 4 days ago?

I've had problems with my ph tester kit.
Take it to a fish shop that liquid testing instead of dip-testing and compare results that way.
My lps said that my ph was fine and they gave me a new reading card for pH. Your PH is at 7 it looks like to me according to my card.

I had my water tested around the time I bought the test kit, and I was given a sheet of paper, which included a pH reading of 8.0.
I'm not really concerned about my pH anyways, it's to difficult to change pH (My water has a high buffering capacity) I'm more interested in what the ammonia, nitrate and nitrite readings are, as their how I know if I'm cycled.

I'm  curious about my other readings. I re-tested again tonight and here are my results:

I read as:
pH: 8
Ammonia: 0.50 ppm
Nitrate:  ~0.50 ppm
Nitrite:~10-20 ppm
