Chapped Lips?

just in time for the new year :good:
yeah!

Oh.. Today I got myself an early christmas. I went to my local petstore and purchased a gorgeous blue delta tail male betta.
He's in a one gallon quarentine tank for now- but i might, JUST might go out and get him a new 5 gallon tomorrow! :shifty:

oh that would be nice of you an early christmas present for your new betta
it would be.
to be honest with you.
i think he's too beautiful too share any room with any other fish!

I have to add my opinion here... if you have used mature filter media straight away in the tank then the fish should be OK. I have always done this and just done a small water change every day or so for the first week, followed by daily testing for the next week or so to keep an eye on the water stats. Of I get any sort of ammo or nitrie reading then do a large water change. You don't need to do a full cycle if you are using a lot of mature filter media. It depends on how much you have taken and who was living in the tank with it - eg if you have 10 guppies in a mature tank and you pinch half of their media for a tank, you would want the new tank to only have 5 guppies.... remember that filter bacteria can replicate quickly to v=cover any area of new filter media it is touching.

I agree with Tibby. I see no reason to move them. The fish are now stressed in those little containers, and that's going to make things worse...

The white mouth may just have been a temporary reaction to the new environment...

I thought about it last night before I went to sleep.
So when I woke up a few hours ago I put them back in the aquarium.
I did check the water stats before I acclimated them though.
And everything was up to norm.

They had the white stuff on their mouths right after I put them in.
But now that I just checked it's gone!

So possibly it may just be the stress!!!

do you have a picture so i can agree?
I haven't gotten any pictures of him yet.
I don't want to stress him out more than he already is.
Because the light in my room is FAR too dim to not use flash.
