Hello

Despite all that is going on in my tank (currently treating for Ick/Ich) I have ordered and awaiting delivery of a Tetratec EX1200

Now here is the thing. I have a Fluval 4 internal filter running so how do I make the transition taking into account I am treating for Ick ? I know I should remove the carbon for starters . I want to get this filter running ASAP .

I was planning on keeping the Fluval running for a period of time in conjunction with the new filter running but it's down to the question of how long for, and/or is this the right way? ..

Has anyone done a similar transition that can advice on what is the best steps to take to do this?

just run them both for 4 weeks.. and carry out reg water tests when you remove the fluval.. i woud be tempted to chuck the media into the TT when you plan to remove totally anyway, that way its always ready should you need to set up a smaller emergency tank or just another tank

you can of course use some of the media to seed the new filter... ive done this when i had more time on my hands.

Welcome to the gang :friends: :D

Just cram all the media from the 4 into the space created by the removal of the carbon and you're done. No need to run them side by side then, cuts down on electric and gives you tonnes of internal space back. :good:

Great tip from shelagh too as it is always cycled then.

I hope it arrives by Tuesday. May just put all the media / filter in from the 4 and see it it goes.
