Hi All
2 weeks ago I put an external fluval306 in my tank and also kept my fluvalu4 running , would there be enough friendly bacteria build up in my external filter if also I added the sponges and balls out of my u4  not to send my tank into a cycle ?
cathy :fun:

Hi scottayb have to say looked at your video of your tank and it is  thinking I might swap over this weekend
cathy :D

Should be fine.

Some bacteria do grow on the walls and pipes of your filter, so obviously you'll lose those. It may be necessary to monitor levels for a few days after the changeover, more as a precaution really. I wouldn't say it's likely, just possible, that you'll go into a mini cycle.

Personally, I'd move the majority of your old media (cram it in anywhere, as long as water is flowing over it then it'll be Ok) into your new filter and take your old filter out. Everything should be Ok but whenever I change over filters, I always keep my eye on the stats of the water (maybe check it every other day?) for 10 days, or there abouts. :good:
