A quick question..... I had to change the pad inside my fluval filter this week, from a black pad to the white water polishing pad, instead of throwing away the black pad altogether i placed the white one in the middle and let it gather the bacteria so to avoid a cycle, I hope I did the right thing because now with the two pads inside my filter my water in the tank has gone cloudy from previously being crystal clear! It is getting better now and I am going to remove the old pad and leave the hopefully now loaded with good bacteria pad inside the filter - I will keep a hold of the old one just incase of and issues. Just wondered if I had done the right thing...

Also just wondered what your best methods of clearing white cloudy water would be?

it'll clear by itself over the next day. I would leave the old pad in for a little longer if you can, to make sure that the bio filter is established on the new one.

if the black pad is Carbon, which i would guess it is, you may as well dump it and replace it with more bio sponge. indeed if the black sponge is more than a few weeks old i would say it must be changed.
