Well as i can't do anything else to my tanks (ie put actual fish in them) atm...i decided to have a switch around.
So in tanks 1+2 they now have both sand and gravel substrate as im not sure which tank the corydoras will go in yet.
SO this also came with a W/C for both tanks. Tank 2 keeps crashing due to high Ni and Na, this is the second W/C i've done on this one.
Tank 1 looked a bit sorry for itself, so i gave them both a make over, with some fresh water. (run out of Tapsafe, so had to dash to LFS to buy some more)
I dunno if this was right or wrong...but it felt good actually doing something!!

I have another Question for you all......(whoever looks at my drivvle)

I gathered some lovely bits of driftwood from a local beach...which would look nice in the tanks....is it ok to use wood from the beach...and do i have to soak it the same as other wood??

Thanks x

The water changes won't have done any harm, and may well help a bit.

I'm always a bit worried about wood and/or rocks that people find on the beach - it'll be salty and who knows what pollution has ingrained itself. I personally wouldn't take the risk, but from reading this forum, there are plenty who have successfully done so. Certainly, you'd need to soak it, and I would have thought for longer than a piece you'd bought from an LFS, to try to make sure that any nasty chemicals were fully diluted away.

And for the record, you don't write drivel, you have experience from the sharp end of fishless cycling that has proved useful to others, even though you're still in the middle of it. Don't put yourself down, there are plenty out there who will do that for you!

i think you need to soak the wood to remove the salt as for the tank lay outs i have no idea what your on about
please show us some pics

I like the dual-substrate look you've done there, very nice indeed.

Where did you have in mind for the driftwood?

Bogwood would most certainly be a good addition to those tanks, i would deffinately give them a good soak for a week or more, salt from the sea water wont be a good start to your tanks.

I suggest you send these new pics to Ludwig for the TOTM.

Or wait until you've got the wood in, and then redo it.

sorry its not my cupa tea, i go for a more natural look my self, its very treasure island / bling

each to their own Spurry

Woah, i'm glad im not a fish.
why????

Well for the first tank, fish dont have any pockets to put treasure in, i'd be quite annoyed if i was a fish and couldnt steal the loot. I'd probably be quite scared of the crocodile head too, i think i'd probably hide behind the filter a lot.
what the heck you on? good job you aint a fish then...i would hate to buy a woosy one :p
