Im curious about the change of behaviour in one of my convicts. I added a month ago two female convicts. I already had two other convicts. So now four. Im wondering why the recent change of behaviour.

They all seem to get along fine. The two older ones we have had since they were babies and are from the same tank.

They are in a mixed cichlid tank. Do they hide when they are expecting? I know they hide in general but i would of thought they would hide in the plants or large boat...not behind the pipe. Are they mouth breeders or egg layers? Why would the bahviour change suddenly? The tank is pretty harmonious.

Stock:

4x convicts
2x electric yellows
2x yellow tail acies
2x mangianos
2x feeder fish

ph: 7.8
ammonia: 0ppm
nitrite: 0ppm
nitrate: 0ppm

I'm guessing the change in behaviour you are seeing is that they are hiding?

I'm pretty sure two will be breeding, they are convicts after all. Which means they will be extremely aggressive towards other fish and unless its a huge tank will probably kill them. Convicts are egg lagyers, they have probably laid eggs behind the pipe and are waiting for them to hatch (around 3 days), then they will become free swimming.

What size is the tank? you have a pretty odd mix of fish in there. One thing that concerns me, the 'mangianos' I havn't heard of this fish and neither has google. Do you mean managuensis or Managuense ( as in parachromis managuensis / Jaguar cichlid?) if so I think this could be a problem, if not now but in the future as I don't expect your tank to be harmonious for much longer (if it isnt over 130 gallons ATLEAST I would say)
