Hi everyone
I am currently looking to add a lot more rocks to my mbuna setup as I have noticed an increase in agression lately (they are all growing into teenagers!). I love the look of ocean rock and its allowance for fish to stake out their own territories but I am not so keen on the inevitable growth of green algae that will take over the rocks in no time.
At one time I was looking at creating my own background/rocks with polystrene etc and part of the process was to cover it in layers of cement to give it its dark, rock like appearance and to seal the polystyrene. So my question is can ocean rock be painted in a thin layer of cement to give it a darker appearance? I know it wont stop the algae but it will sure help to make it less noticeable and I prefer the darker look of rockes in an mbuna setup anyway.
Any advice would be most apreciated.
