Just fed all my fishes and my two feathersqueakers both have the same mark on the bridge of their nose, almost like the skin had turned grey. Not spots just like their skin has gone, they are eating normally and active as usual. Not done water tests just yet as going bed but will provide perimeters tomorrow. We just moved house and had to set up tank again and I'm wondering if it's a dechlorinator that may have burnt them? It was only a cheap one I picked up ages ago but I ran out of stress coat mid refill so had to use it. Tank has been up and running again 3 days, didnt empty filter and was able to take 3 buckets of their water with me. All the other fish are fine none showing same signs just a bit "scatty" when I go near the tank, probably due to the stress of catching, bagging, transport and re-entry to the tank. During the re-set up a friend put the aquarium salt in one of the buckets and didn't tell me, could that have effected them? He didnt say how much he used. Then again I have used salt before only a very small dose and it didn't harm them.

Can't get pics as the cats are shy and like to hide its just strange. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Answers to possible questions:

Set up 3 days,
Rio 180l tank ( fish were mis-sold to me an they would not accept them back. Brother taking them once the outgrow the rio or I get a bigger tank in next few months)
Lighting around 4-6 hours a day - has always been like that
Unknown amount of salt in tank
No water changes due to not being able to get up PAH for stress coat (going tomorrow hopefully!)
No disease or bacteria treatment done

The only time I've used salt with my synos to date was using just 0.5g/l, I don't know how tolerant riverine synos are of salt (inlcluding Featherfin {S. euptera]), but they are scaleless fish which are often less tolerant. On the other hand, the common Lake Tanganyika synos (Petricola; lucipinnis; grandiops; multipunctata) are relatively very tolerant, which is not so surprising given the lake's hard alkaline water.

Hmm it's a bit concerning for that the pair of them have it. I will try get a picture but doubt even my slr will work on them. Any ideas on possible treatment? I do have protozin that I have used with them before no issues. Just seems since the move, the cheapo dechlorinator and rogue salt have caused this "burnt" look

Not sure what to suggest at this stage really, besides seeing what happens when you do a 25-50% water change tomorrow without any salt added. Maybe try and get a decent photo before and after the water change, to help keep a record of how things progress,

I'm currently treating my 5x2x2 with Esha2000 tonight for the first time, which contain several synos (notata; decora; 4x flavitaeniata; 2x brichardi), sadly it was too late to save my poor female Golden Wonder Killifish who developed a nasty fungal growth on her upper mouth by Thursday morning, when I was treating the tank with Myxazin (which is basically anti-bacterial, but with a tiny bit of the Protozin (fungal/protozoa) ingredients). The fish down there have been acting very odd without showing any obvious symptoms for me to diagnose for about a month besides a bit of finrot, during which time I've now lost 3 fish (Redline torpedo Barb; Panda Garra [large open sore]; GWK). I'm hoping the anti-fungal properties of the Esha 2000 (which also covers some bacterial issues too) will resolve whatever is going oin down there, virtually all the fish seemed happy and active within ~10 minutes of "day1" treatment.
I'm still racking my brain as to when I bought the big bottle of Myxazin, as it has crossed my mind that perhaps it had been open for >12 months and so should be replaced.

Hmm I am very concerned this morning as one of them on the end of his whisker is the same colour, going PAH later to pick up the fishy chemicals. It has to be the dechlorinator feel like complaining it doesn't have "do not use if..." I hope I can save them
