I did a quick search and didn't really find anything of relevancce so im posting here.
I've hatched some BBS, but im not really sure how the hell i'm supposed to get them into the fry tank!
I noticed theyre attracted to light but i dont have a net with a fine enough mesh to catch them.
I can catch them in a tiny 'cup' but would the salt in the water affect the fry water?

Any advice would be appreciated! :good:

get a empty milk bottle (2lt plastic one)

clean it out properly and place a small hole in the lid and put some airline through it so its about 1/2" in the bottle..

Put a tap on the end of the tube and turn the bottle upside down and leave it to settle for 5 mins and this will allow the eggshells to float to the top and the shrimp will stay at the bottom (put a bright light near bottom to get a better result), after its settled, undo the taP and start the folw off in to a empty carton or container..

After doing this for 5 mins ( so half the water has drained) stop the flow and put the carton somewhere for 5 mins to settle, your should see loads of orangish shrimps gathering probably in a corner, u can now cup them out without worry of eggshells.

Don't forget to rinse this with some fresh water as you will end up putting the hatching solution into the tank as well.

I use a syringe to just take in small amounts to squirt into the tank, do not over feed or the shrimp will die and pollute the tank.

oops forgot about that, when you have them in the container, top it up with tank water or tap water with dechlorinator in.

I wouldnt worry about polluting the tankwith them, they are so tiny it wouldnt even bothet the tank even mass amounts.

Place light source near hatching container at the btm...wait ...BBS will congregate in and around the illumination and the empty shells should mostly be at the top. Use a small plastic syringe with some airline attached and suck up what you need for one feeding. Place a cotton hankerchief over an empty jam-jar and expell your BBS onto this. Then suck up some tank water and flush it over the BBS to get rid of excess brine (do the 2-3 times) then take your hankerchief and swirl it in the fry tank. Remember to remove all uneaten food after around an hour, again you can use the syringe and airline to do this.
Keep fry tanks clean and perform very small waterchanges everyother day.

Thanks BigC, very helpful ^_^
And how much do i need for one feeding?
There are around 18 fry, so is it like a few bbs each, or more like 10/15 each?

What have you got the fry in for starters, (tank)
BigC

16 Litres (4 gallon)
With a sponge filter and a thin layer of gravel at the bottom (2nd picture in signature)

Usually you would keep fry in a bare tank with just the heater and sponge filter, You have gravel in yours so I would go out and buy around 4 dwarf corydoras species, They will help clean up any overfeed., I'd feed around 5ml if BBS twice a day with a small feed of powdered flake in between (remember to keep the tank clean and dont forget the waterchanges)
