i said in another post i have in my tank..

1 x tomato clownfish (medium size)
3 x green cromis (small)
2 x blue damels (small)

want to get 2 Kaudern's Cardinal (black and sliver stripe) should i buy a pair togther with the fish i have? or is it best to get them on there own?

cheers matt

I don't have blue damsels, but I do have these cardinals in my 28gal with clarkii clowns and a few others and there's never been a problem. However they don't like much light or much flow. They will hang out pretty much exclusively where your bulbs don't stretch to and within that to where there is minimum flow. If this restricts them too much I'd reconsider, but if not then I'd definately go for a pair rather than a single one. Mine always hang out together and 'mirror' each other. They also breed quite easily, and whilst the fry have never gone to term its great to watch them shimmering and dancing about at 'the time'. you can also get captive bred ones quite readily :D Someone may know better, but I don't think a pair will cause more aggression issues than a single one, cardinals are pretty weedy - unlike damsels! How big is your tank?

iv got 125L (33G) i want some bigger fish, i was thinking tangs or flameangle fish?? or something but duno if the tank is to small, i only want to get another 2-3 fish and i think that will be enough or to many in that size tank ?i seem to b getting told differnt things all the time..lol..

u have any recomedations? i been told dartfish etc as well but i want bigger fish

I don't know about flame angels but tangs need at least five foot of swimming length - they are squeezed into smaller tanks but the general concensus seems to be that its cruel. I wouldn't say that the 6 fish in your tank is even close to overstocked, however you might have to consider smaller fish - perhaps someone else can help you out here? I think stocking levels depend more on the efficiency of your equipment to cope with the bioload than gallonage per se, but which large fish nedd little space I'm afraid I don't know. Do you have a reef tank or fish only? Also, have you thought of wrasses (gorgeous) or blennies (characters) - they're not big but they're great to look at.

Hope someone else can be more helpful!

i would say its very close to being fully stocked, going on the basis that 7 small sized fish is enough for my 180 litre tank.

I've been told that a flame angel or a coral beauty would be alright in my soon to be 29 gallon tank. The only thing is they've been known to nip at coral

:good: :fish:

Yes, apart from it's lack of agreement with reality, it's good advice.

That said, I do think that 33 gallons is too small for a tang. I tend to recommend 75 gallons at minimum for the smaller species.

A pair of cardinals will make a great addition, in my opinion. Check out gobies as well, or Canthigaster puffers. Not too many "big fish" I can recommend for a 33 gallon; morays are fun, though, and can be kept in one... when small.
