I am using akadama bonsai soil in my shrimp tanks. It does the job in bringing down the PH and is decent for growing plants, but I don't like the look of it and find it very messy as its so light. I'm assuming capping it with sand or gravel won't affect the PH reducing qualities of the akadama. Would that be correct?
