Arghhh - they look the same but I can't guarantee that. Ask the store to check their delivery note / invoice for when they got them. That may contain the actual name.

Shops and/or wholesalers often make up common names. But the latin name is the same everywhere. Seangee's fish are Microdevario kubotai; gold tetras are Hemigrammus rodwayi. The delivery note/invoice should give the latin name.
But even that does not guarantee it to be correct. I found 4 microdevarios in a shop and bought them. That shop did not order fish for customers so I went to another, which did order them. When I went to collect them, the wholesaler had sent chili rasboras (Boraras brigittae) instead, but the invoice gave them as microdevarios. Luckily, the shop agreed they were chili rasboras when they had a proper look at them. I did get the right fish when they re-ordered them.

Wow, my bad. Those are all Gold Tetra!!
I just realized the sign was for Botia Kubotai, not Microdavario Kubotai. Those fish are all "Gold Tetras." I think there were black and white creatures also in that tank.
$19:99 seemed high, as well

The black and white creatures would be Botia kubotai, as per the tank label. Also called polka dot loach.

I keep the front part of my tank pretty sparse and leave a glass feeding fish out there. I feed a little A.M. and P.M. I always see them out and about.

I must confess when I saw the pic my first thought was tetra based on the body and fin shape. Then I compared it to one of my pics and it did look similar, but as they are being sold as gold tetra my guess is that is what they are.

I'm sure they are, perhaps I assumed the males and females were different fish. I was excited because I have admired your fish and was shocked at the price!

By way of an update:

I removed some of the driftwood and some of the rocks. They still have lots of hiding places, butless than before. I also got those algae wafers I'd ordered. I've made a feeding dish out of a small plastic lid with a rock superglued on the bottom to weigh it down. It's in the centre front, in an open area, and about a quarter of a wafer goes in there about two out of three days. I've been doing that for about a week, and they've already begun to learn where it is and spend more time near there.
