I finally got my 12 gallon jbj Nano Cube Deluxe. I'm going to make it a planted tank but can't decide which fish to chose for it.

I thought I'd get your ideas and oppinions.

If you have something else in mind, list that too!

what are the dimension's?

but i love looking at most tetra species in planted tanks, particually rummy nose and cardinals.

but i go with dwarf puffers.

:good:

i quite fancy dwarf puffers myself so I'd go with that :)

Gonna have to now, my 5 gallon fried and now I've got a dwarf frog to house and only one tank left so it's gonna have to be freshwater. Dwarf puffers were my most likely choice anyway

Puffers! Gobies are quite sensitive in my experience... plus I think the puffers would look cooler.

Although I agree with jayjay, a few nice tetras would looke very nice as well.

A lot of evidence points to BBG being freshwater (Nmonks has conered it a few times), and a number of people in this forum have had good success keeping BBG in FW, so you could look into both.

yeah, I was looking at some BBGs for my small hex tank a while back. and a lot of researched turned up that they can be kept in FW. When looking at brackish fish, some of these live in a mix of brackish and FW, so do well enough in fw. unlike marine fish, as their bodiesa are not designed for the mixing of osmosis's (lol if thats even a word, but you know what I mean... don't you  )

I also read that BBG's can be kept in freshwater but that it is more difficult to keep them healthy. I have a great deal of experience with brackish fish, mainly puffers. The rule of thumb that I apply is that if they can have salt they will do best with salt. Seems to help them avoid illness and stress better.

That being said, maybe it's time for me to try something more difficult! I will consider getting some BBG's alond with the dwarf puffer(s) thanks for your suggestions.

I'd go with puffers. Brackish or Fresh, Bumblebees tend to be a delicate fish to keep and need more specific care than most other fish.

Most LFS's keep their BBGs in FW, and while generally that's not a good thing (with fish that can be kept in brackish/should be), there should be no problems if the FW is hard and alkaline.

I kept a school of 6 bbgs for a while and i kept them in hard fw and weekly would give them a "bath" in a week salt solution with some guppies and they were fine.
After a while i noticed they would start to go paler if i neglected to bathe them for more than 10 days.
Wierd eh?

Yeah, I think I may just give it a go with the BBG's and a DP or two! gotta get a new problem with the live plants sorted out first though!
