we all know this is not a good tank for a betta. please refrain from posting these tank in the future-they only get everyone all worked up.
thanks.
cheers
Perhaps a sticky in the bettas section about gimick tanks and how small/odd shaped tanks are bad would be a good idea? Could be locked (to save hysterical posting) and show the range of silly, novelty tanks and a general warning about why these tend to be bad for the fish?
Might help educate the newbies and save stuff like this getting posted.

Not sure a sticky would help. Seems like tank size will ALWAYS be argued and people who disagree with the info in the sticky will reference it with dismay. Maybe whenever threads about controversal tank size(s) are posted a moderator should be notified and the thread locked?Perhaps a sticky in the bettas section about gimick tanks and how small/odd shaped tanks are bad would be a good idea? Sigh!
I'm not even sure what a couple of liters is. . .I'm in the US. Just googled. Less than 1 gallon. That's huge. What are you talking about? hahahaNot sure a sticky would help. Some people will always say large jars and such are fine, usually people who breed on a large scale and keep show bettas, but I've yet to meet someone I would consider knowledgeable who will say a couple of litres is OK for long term housing. And some of the tanks are just stupid, like the ones with no air at the top and the "iPond" rubbish.

NOT a good idea. trolling and flaming (both against terms of the site) would be rampant! the "small tank" debate is not ever going to end. everyone has their opinion as to what they feel comfortable keeping their own bettas in. just because folks choose to keep them in 5 gal or more, does not mean anything less is cruel and harms the fish, so long as husbandry is good. and that is what fishkeeping is about. Bettas are fish after all, and require the same basic care. Tank size "limit" is a pretty grey area. Personally, 5 gal is more than enough room for even the largest betta and i keep them in "small" tanks that would shame some of the members. Be noted-my bettas are every bit as active and healthy in the smaller tanks i use, as the 6+gal tank boys are.perhaps a section, such as "Tanks of Shame" in which the OP puts a picture up of a tank, lists the inhabitants, and comments are locked but there is like a poll where you rank on a scale of 0-10 how bad you think the tank is?
