Canister for river tank

Planning a gentle river tank. 48, 12, 12. Will canister filter provide enough flow by itself if the in and out are on opposite ends? How much gph? 30 gallons. Will 200 be enough for length? Do I need to add powerhead?

Going for SA river feel. Cory, Otto’s, dwarf cichlids. Looking for gentle current, one end to other.
