I know male Congo tetra normally have longer fins than female, but i wonder is it same for young fish? Do the male has long fins when they are born. Or they are like guppy, has to grow to certain age to get more colorful?

They all look the same when young - the earliest sexual distinctions are the elongations in the middle of the tail fins of the males.

Does that mean even very young male will have the elongation in the tail fin? The reason I am asking is, i bought some of them yesterday, so i do not know they are too young or they are just female, as there is no elongation in their tail fin.

I dont think they get their distinctions until they ae sexually mature.
