This is one of 6 of my diamond tetras... Found it today just randomly in a java fern. They were all fine yesterday.. Non of them were bloated or anything so its really sudden. Its really bloated now though, looks kind of yellow too?

Other tank mates are all compatable... bolivian rams, cockatoos, rummy nose and kuhli loach.

Water stats are good.

Forgot to mention, a cockatoo died the other week, but wasn't bloated. He seemed to stop eating though...

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

What size and how long have you had it for? When did you last add new fish or plants to the aquarium?

Around 4cm, bought it late summer I think. There is a bigger one in there but not sure of the sexes... The bloating would indicate some sort of infection/parasite I assume?

I havn't added any fish since them, added a new plant the other day but only from the same place I always get them and I washed it thoroughly.

What size was it when you bought him?

Bloating can happen naturally, just because the fish is dead.

A bit smaller than now...They've all grown a little. I couldn't say exactly lol.. Whats with the yellow do you know?

Thanks for the help.

It does seem rather sudden as they were all absolutely fine yesterday...

You remember that male cockatoo that died? probably not but it turns out the 'female' is a late bloomer and might be male! Thats very late..

The yellow is not unusual in that species.

It sounds like a one off.. although potentially, they could have been not that young when you got them. Basically, I can't see anything wrong with the fish in the photo, nor with your set-up.

Just watch the other fish for signs of flicking, stingy white/mucousy poo and spitting out foor (would make me think internal parasites). Bloating and discoloration can happen post mordem tho as the fish starts to decompose.
hope its nothing to worry about.
cheers

I will keep an eye out :good:

They do seem a bit more stressed than normal, from general noise but other than that all seems ok...
