^^ whats with the caps?

no one said theres anything wrong with bowls if they are kept clean/heated at the end of the day everyone says different where bettas are conserned, to me as a perminant home i wouldn't go any smaller than a 3 gal

I don't know why everyone is being so negative. I think it is a great idea. The fish have been in those cups for days at the pet store so I don't see why another 5 hours would really matter. Bettas can adjust to temp changes very well so thats not much of a worry. Also I have been keeping bettas for years and I have never cycled the tanks for them. Since the betta will be in the tank alone there wont be much ammonia. I recomend some water changes every other day for the first few weeks anyway just to be sure. A betta (my sugestion: a white crowntail) would be a beautiful symbol of hope in my opinion. :) But clear it with the hospital first. The fish, I think, wouldn't be a hassel for the hospital. If you explain the situation they will probably let you bring the fish. I think that pet restrictions apply mostly to animals that may trigger alergies or cause problems. Hope all goes well! Keep us posted!
