A few weeks (months?) back, I saw a thread with a link to a video that showed a large tank with an opening part way up. It looked like it might have been a public aquarium, where you couldn't reach the top for easy feeding. There was some discussion in the thread about the physics behind it and about how it's a bad idea because people could tamper with it so easily. If anyone knows which thread I'm talking about, and could post a link to it, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! :good:

Can you remember the ID of anyone that posted on it or the forum it was in? That would definitely help.

Celaeno, unfortunately that one isn't it, although that is pretty amazing! The one I am looking for was flat, like at a public aquarium, but at about the 4-foot mark, there was a "bump out" with an open top. You could touch the water, drop food in, all that, but it was the middle of the glass.

And RDD, I can't recall any of those details, making this that much harder.

Thanks for trying, guys!

It seems like I remember seeing a thread like that quite a while ago and it could be the same one that resurfaed through the Similar Topics. I remember the discussiion on what kept the water in the tank.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking for! Where did you see it under Similar Topics?

On a side note, I have so much more success with the Similar Topics feature than with the search function. It seems like when I search for Topic X I get 5 million hits that might only tangentially touch on it (and mention my search term once, on page 14, in a completely different context), making it impossible to find the good info. On the other hand, if I give up my search and create a new topic asking my question about Topic X, I'll find 5 identical threads listed under the Similar Topics of my new thread! I wish there were a way to generate Similar Topics without creating a new post (although that wouldn't really help me here, since I don't remember the title! ).

Actually, I remember seeing it a year or so ago (if it's the same one). As for Similar Topics, it pulls those based on the title of the thread. If you notice, there may be a wide date range on them but the titles are almost identical. Searching is difficult sometimes, especially if you're looking for something and the only keywords you can think of are pretty common. It is true that you get a lot that may only list the keywords once or twice. If you use the advanced search, you can get a little more specific and only get threads that have all the words you are searching for. A year or 2 ago, before ome of the software upgrades, the words you searched for were highlighted in yellow in the threads to make them easier to see as you scrolled down the pages.

Awesome, I didn't know there was an advanced search (I see it now). I'll keep searching!

No, it's not that either. Hrm, I've done a load of searches with all possible keywords I can think of and nada... I havea feeling it was in Japan or similar.

Oohfeeshy, I've also searched for every possible key word too and have gone back as far as I've been a member as I do remember seeing the thread. It's not the tank that bobo linked to. I am with you that I also seem to remember it being in Japan. I definitely remember the discussion on the physics of how it worked.

Noo, it isn't that tank. Here's an incredibly poor diagram-

It's like a normal public aquarium tank (ie, pretty big), but in the middle of the glass there's a hole with a 'lip' projecting out under it. People are putting food into the water in the lip and the fish are eating it. No water leaks out.

i guess, if it got out of control, the thread may have been deleted. but could the mods not confirm that?
