i was wondering if my adult and juvie figure 8s can eat beef heart?my adult is very skittish and i am trying to get him to come out more with something better than blood worms or brine shrimp.can i feed them frozen shrimp from the store also?
any other foods you feed is welcome

Why would you feed beef heart? Figure 8 puffers, no matter how industrious they might be, won't be killing cows in the wild.

Stick to normal frozen foods, bloodworm, mysis, brine shrimp etc. Trying to mimic a fish's diet in the wild will mean it will live longer, as you run less risk of spoiling its diet.

Excellent lol....I can see a line of Fig8's down the slaughter house now!

Try crustacians, helps keep the bill trimmed.

i was just looking for something he would really like.i had mysis shrimp before for them.are they bigger?
i use snails once and a while but he wont break into the snail.i have to crush it between 2 coasters.
what would you reccomend i do to get my puffer less skittish?

What type snails have you tried, ive yet to see a healthy Puffer not destroy a ramshorn/pond snail and mine do love apple snails aswell.

what about cultured foods such as vinegar eels?they are easy to culture and i was wondering if theres anything along those lines?

To make it less skittish you could try giving it a more stimulating environment, as puffers are very intelligent fish. More tank decor/plants for example.

Feed your puffers things that they would naturally eat. crustacians, bloodworm, shrimp etc.

Also as mentioned Puffers need a tank to explore, the are probably the most intelligent of fish because of this need stimulation. I actually hold their food infront of the glass until they 2 Puffs come up to the front then slowly preceed to drop it in, they go nuts :)

Edit

Ive heard that some Puffers Fig8's etc sometimes dont like bright colours, im assuming you have a sensible brackish tank for the Puffs and nothing that looks like a tellytubby episode?

i have arogonite substrate,2 peices of bog wood ,2 small java ferns,1 tiny corkscrew val,and 1 anubias nana.i plan on ordering ether more straight vals or onion plants.then some micro sword or suttin for the foreground
