yet again i come down this morning to find the end of the spray bar on the floor. its a snug fit so i know what hes up to! hes been pulling it off and spitting it out, im just worried he may swallow it and choke, its a tetratec ex1200, i would leave it all together but another thing i have noticed is that when the end is off the flow seems to encourage brown algae ( it appears only around that area) so he has to be stopped im afraid  i dont foresee any problems doing this, but then if i could foresee them they wouldnt be problems eh?

Long as you dont get silicone in the holes for the water flow or any in the water whilst your doing it, I forsee no problems at all.

Little monkey aint he

yeah you can use silicone to glue the end cap in place, i have had to do this myself, for some reason the end caps on all my tetratecs do become loose after a little time (has occured on all 3 of my tetratec ex700's) when the end cap has popped out i had put them back in and they are a snug fit.

Im thinking that as my heater is right next to my filter intake that at times when the heater is on and the water is at its warmest next to the intake, the water flowing throught the filter is still nice and warm (26c some times a little more) that when the water's comming out the spray bar its still nice and warm & the constant flow & pressure of warm water allows the plastic to become a little flexable and pop out. by the time i notice this, the end cap has been out of the constant flow of warm water through the filter, its had a chance to cool down a little and reform back to its correct shape and be a sung fit again. its a long shot but may be a possability or my simple mind working overtime on nonsence lol.

you may need to let the silicone cure for a day or so before putting it back into water so may need to run the filter without part of the spray bar for a short time.

thankyou for that Scott and Minx,,ill have the silicone out when i get home for another job and get on with that too.. `i shall beat the monkey at his games!!

thanks again

Depending on what type of plastic the parts are made from, you could attach it permanently with the right adhesive. The right one will vary depending on what plastic type is involved.

You are fighting a losing battle, Jambo has all day to think up ways to annoy you. you may win the battle but the war is already lost. he knows it you know it, I can hear him laughing at you from here :)
