my water is greener than the hulk and i want to do a big water change (if not a complete cleansing of the tank) and i was wondering if it's a good idea relocating the 9 day old fry to another tank? using any of the water in my tank right now is out of the question as the water is so green i don't even want to post a picture of it. looks like this guy --> lol.

so yea suggestions anyone?

Just change 20% of the water at a time and do it 3-4 times a week.

Whats causing the green water.
To much food?
To much light?
How much day light dose it get?
Dose it get direct day light?

Try adding some daphina as well, fry will love eating it and the daphina will feed on the green water removing it as well.

A green water environment is actually a great place to raise fry. They are a bit hard to see but will be very healthy in that kind of environment. I like the daphnia idea if you want to remove the green because daphnia are greedy green water eaters. I can never seem to grow enough to feed my daphnia so I end up with them on artificial feeding. For green water to grow you need lots of light and a surplus of nutrients in the water. If you can cut back on the light, the green water algae will not reproduce very quickly and the water will get paler almost daily.

hello,
A 9 days old fry is a bit early to be moved, but if you have some water from another tank, like half and half from the green tank you will be allright, dont change the water completly, the fry are very hardy, ive done aome massive changes with mine and they are ok,,,the size of the tank is important aswell

With a surplus of nutrients, green water algae will grow back in just a few days. Water changes do not work any longer than that. As HelterSkelter said, if you really want to be rid of it you need to cut light, nutrients or both. In the meanwhile the daphnia idea he gave you works wonders to not only get rid of green water but give you almost ideal baby fish food in the form of new born daphnia that are gut loaded with algae.
