Can I 'get Away With' 1wpg?

If you read it properly, it's actually me who is asking how to grow algae, as it may sound stupid but I want it. It's a planted tank though so what can I do to get lots of algae?

PS - The algae is for my plecs before you think i'm weird.

can u not just use algae waffers? you must have a lot of plecs

I can, but I thought it would be better if it was natural algae, plus it would be nice to watch them gobble it up.
I have 4 plecs, they are only quite small though.
