Hi everyone

I already have 2 male DGs, 7 H&T Light Tetras, 5 Bandit Cories, 6 Sterby Cories and a Flash Pleco in my 200 Litre, medium planted tank.

I was seriously considering joining the Ram club with a group of GBRs or Golden Rams, but, I'm not sure that I'm quite there yet with them. So, I've started to consider some females for my 2 boys. One has established himself quite quickly as the main man, so, the other knows his place and tends to stay out the way...except at feeding time when all is forgiven and it's every man for himself.

Anyway, can I get females for my 2 wee guys? Can they be Honey Gourami or just about any type of Dwarf? What would be the ideal number?

Any comments or help would be fab, cheers!

wellobvisuoly if you get females then theyll have to be dwarfs idealy you could get 4 but i think they do best in trios IMO.

Yup, four will be the perfect number. It makes a trio per male (1:2 M:F) which is the recommended number to have :)

Cool, that's all good news.

How about mixing the species? Do I 'need' to get colisa lalia or is it possible to get successful breeding with trichogaster chuna or colisa sota?

If so, is it possible to get 2 of each of these and see what happens with baby colouration?

No honeys and dwarfs cant breed just like platies and mollies cant.

Aww, that's actually quite disappointing...

On the other hand, if I decide I don't want to attempt breeding, I can just get the different species!

Good luck finding females. :p Especially with the DG variety, LFS's typically only stock males due to their vibrant colors.
