Hi Ian,
No I don't mind, but to be brutally honest I don't think you've done anything for the image. The top and bottom edge were included for exact representation of the tank, top to bottom. The betta was not tampered with because as you can see on your attempt, it's far too grainy and contrasty to cope well with it. Aside from this you'd need to be extremely good with PS to do the fin rays properly on such a small image - hence the blue aura that you've created, so it looks like the betta was crudely pasted onto the front of a separate image.

Like I said, the pic was for realism, exactly as it is - the tank's not all about the betta, he's just something in it. Now if you want some image editing practice and critique, let's start another thread! :good:

the photo wasnt particularly high quality to start with, so it's not like I was going to put too much time into it (hance the use of the magic wand & expand tool!) - I just thought the bettas colour could have been shown better, because there was very little contrast in that area

Thanks to all that participated in this thread.

Don't know if I feel better or worse now after seeing so many great set-ups.

I have a lot of work (fun) to do on mine now!

If anyone needs to ask what the attraction is in Betta keeping need only to follow this thread
