I have got a few fish with columnaris and have been using Myxazin for the past 7 days but its not done much, I was thinking about adding some Aquairum Salts but could someone let me know if the following fish could handle it.

Gold Gourami
Platys
Sailfin Molly
Cherry Barb
Simaese Algae Eater
Armano Shrimp
Neon Tetra

I'm not sure about all of the other fish, but I sure do know that the molly would appriciate it. They are actually supposed to be brackish fish, but they do fine in regular freshwater. I hope someone else comes around that could give you some better advice then I could!

Myxazin alone isnt enough to combat columnaris, you need to be dosing with pimafix as well.

What is the tank temperature? Columnaris (unlike a disease such as Ich) is said to dislike lower temperature, so you could lower it slightly (depending on what it already is).

As for adding salt, Im unsure as to its benefit with columnaris.

I had put the temps down to 24c, and have just done a 75% water change have added my filter sponges back, Myxazin done nothing apart from make my water a slight blue colour and made the water toxic. I am going to make sure my water tests are good for over the next few days and monitor the couple of fish with the disease, maybe the water improvement might make them better, I dont know? Do you know if Pimafix has copper as doubt my shrimps will be happy.

I dont think it does, but check the label.

Myxazin can (as you have found) knock water stats if it is overdosed even slightly, its actually better to underdose slightly. The colour staining is fine, it soon goes.

Myxazin's main ingredient is copper though, malachite green on the label. Have your shrimp been OK with it?

Nope, none of the shrimps died and I used it for over 9 days.

Hmmm, what sort of shrimp are they? I have 2 tanks which I have used myxazin in, which I want to put shrimp in. I haven't because I thought the left over copper would kill them.

i use aquarium salt all the time and i've had all those fish in the past exept for shrimps. your fish will be fine but i dont know about your shrimp

Aquarium salt is salt, not copper, so it affects fish as salt only. Shrimp are sensitive to copper, an entirely different deal, so they may be harmed by copper but not at all by salt. Please do not confuse using salt and using copper. Copper is sold as a compound to kill invertebrates in the form of snail killers. One of the ones known to work great for snail control, but not recommended for a tank with shrimp, is Snail-Away. It is a copper chemical treatment that is very effective at controlling snails but is not very darned shrimp friendly. Most fish can indeed tolerate the levels used to control snails. I have no evidence if there will be any shrimp survivors if you use the stuff though.
