This is one of my scissortail rasporas who i have had for about 5 weeks. He came with the lump and although it does not affect him in anyway, i want to know what it is. Any ideas anyone??

It looks to me like it might be an intestinal hernia, but it could be a tumour, it's hard to tell.

There's not a lot you can do really, apart from watch to make sure it's not struggling.

I can tell you it looks nothing like the lymphocytosis one of my old Barilius cf. canarensis males has (which have recently been reclassified as Opsarius, as I found out earlier), now homed with MartinS.

Thanks for responses. I have been told that it may be a granular cyst, which although unsightly is harmless, won't get bigger and doesn't bother the fish. Anyone heard of this

One of my female Bolivian rams has always had a lump like this, it hasn't grown any bigger as she's grown and appears totally harmless.
