I've already posted about this in the emerencies section but i've had no replies, so i thought i'd post here (this is my original post):

I've noticed today that one of my rams seems not to good. All he/she is doing is literally resting on the bottom of the tank. Seemed fine earlier yesterday. All the other fish in the tank seems fine (another ram, 1 pengiun tetra, 3 zebra danios, 1 mollie). On one of his fins there is a hole that seems to be getting bigger but it's just a hole, no fungus or anything around it.

Edit: Picture i've just taken:

His swimming also seems pretty poor, can't really get of the bottom maybe only an inch or two.

The tank size is 2.5ft 100l.
Stats:

Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0 (this seems odd to me, going to retest later)
PH 7.8 (tap water ph is 7 - 7.2) this seems like a problem to me.

Chemicals added: Flora Gro and Flora Gro 24. CO2.

Theres also some snails in the tank that i'm trying to eradicate but i've not put any chemicals in for this.

I'm just about to add some melafix for now.

Any advice wopuld be greatly appreciated.

Edit: I know rams like a PH of around 7 and lower, soft water. For some reason my tank ph is up from my tapwater, would this cause a problem, i have some peat plus for lowering ph. It's granules to put in the filter.

An update since the original post:

I've done a 30% water change, added melafix. Fish is still looking bad, maybe a bit worse.

My real concern now is that he/she's not going to be able to feed as he can't get to the top of the tank. I have loads of different foods so i'll maybe put some beefheart or frozen bloodworm to try and help.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

How long have you had the sick Ram?

I have gotten Rams that were locally bred that lived a long time, and then a few weeks ago I got one that was farm raised and it died within 2 weeks.

I've had it for about 2 weeks. Got it from maidenhead aquatics. I got a pair and the other seems ok. I'm really baffled, the only thing that i can put it down to is the ph, but if it was that wouldn't both of them be sick?????

Please help!!!!

Some more pictures, he's now lost a lot of the yellow colour:

Please help

He's lost so much colour now!!!

Try to hand feed him a small, de-shelled cooked pea. This looks like classic swim-bladder to me. Big belly, and bad swimming. Don't feed him for a few days after you give him the pea. This is is almost untreatable, and melafix won't help. I'm just a little worried, it may be too late.
