I've been travelling overseas for 2 weeks and have been missing my fish, so thought I'd frequent the forums a little to get my fix ;)

I have a regular Bristlenose and what a believe is a Peppermint Bristlenose. The BN is fully grown and definitely a male, but is it as easy to tell with Peppermints? I've been assuming it's a She, as she's nearly fully grown and doesn't have many 'bristles'.
If I do have a male and female, can they breed successfully? Or will they not show an interest in each other as they're different types?

They could in theory as they are both Ancistrus.

Not very likely though.

Heh, I've probably just got my hopes up as they've been much more tolerant of each other recently - The male used to chase the Peppermint on sight, now he lets her get very close, and only chases her off if there is food nearby :p She's quicker than he is, so he's never caught her ... except for the one time she very stupidly went into his log tunnel when he was hanging upside down inside it - surprise attack! :p

Is the Bala Shark in your sig still in that tank?

Yes he is - I know it's not ideal, but I literally have no where else for him to go. My LFS won't take him. I've already had him for nearly 6 years now - plus I think the Angel would miss him; they're best buds.
