I have noticed alot of GREAT pictures taken of fish from this site. My question is I was wondering what type of cameras you use. I have a kodak Easyshare 6330 . I have seen people talk about needing 'macro settings" and im sure my camera does not have that seeing as though I have no idea what it is. So im wondering if any of you know of any good cameras that do. Seeing as though I would like to take good pictures of my fish.. and in general I would like to get the art if you will of photography.. so please help if you can!.. also I have decided to name my fish rainbow.. While I was looking at my fish today the looks of my fish reminded me of the book "rainbow fish" I loved that book. <~~ Off topic I know! Sorry! thanks for the help!!

Hmm, I was curious and looked up your camera on the Kodak website. By the way, the online manual is here. http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/pub...g00137toc.jhtml

Have you tried using your camera in the close-up/macro mode (with the flower icon)? Try using this mode without flash. If your fish are fast, like mine, then you'll probably need flash. So then try with flash at different angles at the tank, so the flash will just show up as a glaring spot in the corner (which you can crop out) and your fish hopefully captured in the middle of the shot.

EDIT: Also, I always set my camera on the hightest resolution possible; Kodak calls this "best picture quality". And I take photos during the day with the tank light on and room lights on.

Hope any of this helps. I really don't think you need to buy a better camera. Not yet at least; not until you've exhausted what your camera is capable of.

Wow.. I had no idea about the "macro" settings but I just took a picture with it and it came out great. I have a Panasonic Lumix.. it was like $248.

Here's a downsized sample of the picture.. it has a lot more detail with it full size

Andreeuh, great picture; I love the reflection in the shot.

Those Lumix cameras are great cameras because it has the image stabilizer; hardly no shaky or blurry photos. I'm a big fan of them.

I like the camera a lot, but sometimes it has a problem focusing when I zoom in on stuff. That could just be cause I'm using it wrong though.. I'm definitely gonna use this macro setting a lot more.

I must investigate my camera more...but then I havent a clue how to put them on computer...got a photobucket account but son does everything for me...not lazy honest just not technical.

That is a beautiful boy he looks very stuck up!

Great photos coming out of this thread. Sweet Betta boy, so young and courious. I think the "flower" setting and learning to angle the shots are the best advice I ever got. Also, if your camera has decent resolution, forget the zoom; shoot as close as you can and then crop and enlarge. Zooms seem to blur on many cameras.

Also take lots of shots, one will turn out.

Maybe he is just very photogenic! I think I've been to that website before but I never really read through it. Seems like there's a bit too much camera talk for me to understand
