Ok guys and gals!

Have decided to say.. to heck with it! I want a tattoo... its going to mean an awful lot to me to say the least, when i discuss the ideas, you will get the idea, i dont really need to talk about it as its for me, I want it.

Its going to be for me, to show healing, hope, acceptance, acknowledgement of the bad, moving on..survivor.

It means so much that im willing to pay money i dont have and put myself through pain im not sure i have the strength for. But goodness knows, i desperately need it at the moment. I need it there, i need a permanent reminder. And i kind of want people to see it and understand but without saying 'omg what does that mean!?'.

I know what I want, its in my head! But i cant design it..

Info:

-Its going on th top of my right arm
-First tattoo and im terrified! (no huge tattoos, very basic, no colour but the tiny bit i say, and not lots of block colour!)

-No more than maybe 2"-3" tall and maybe 1.5"2.5" wide...

Design..

I intend it to be in shading, though as dark as possible without my dying of pain (im a huge sissy by the way when it comes to needles and pain!)

I want an angel in... hmmm kind of tribal design but smooth edges, flowing...

Just outline, no facial features etc...

And I *need* it to be holding a Teal Awareness ribbon.

Everything is to be in Greyscale except the ribbon which is to be a tiny bit of colour in it all.

Obviously.... some of those things are weird and i am not entirely sure why the heck people need awareness for things such as Zombie Apocolypse Week...

But for me...

My mum is slowly healing from her operation on a serious hernia in her diaphragm, I suffer from PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), Anxiety, PTSD(post traumatic stress disorder), I have been bullied and have suffered SA (se*xual assault) at the hands of sick... people *sometimes i wish i could curse on here!*.

I am not ashamed any more. Im not! I wont be. I dont have to be. And now I want to make sure I never will be! And more so I want to be confident in myself and something to remind myself so I can push on through and help other people too!

This tattoo means a lot to me and I want to get it done ASAP andId rather post this here where its more likely to be seen.

You dont have to be great at art! Its a simple design... its pot luck and if someone gets the perfect design, i will encorperate the initials/username of the individual and 'TFF'. As both will mean a lot to me too!

If you put up pictures, please dont be offended if i ask if you can alter it, or say its not quite right, its really something specific i want, i just dont know what yet!

Can anyone help?

EDIT: And yes I could go to a tattoo place and get them to sketch it up for me, or look on specific forums...

But I feel oddly at home here, saying things I wouldnt be able to elsewhere...

And I happen to know there are some awesome artists hiding on this forum, even those people who dont yet know it!

I love this forum and it may 'only be a fish forum' but it helps me a lot, its a wonderful community and it has helped me far more than anyone or anything else! You are all amazing people and I am so thankfull to be part of this forum!
 
Anne Stokes does some beautiful work.
She's mainly a fantasy/gothic artist.
Have a look at her website in the fantasy section, there might be something there to give you inspiration.
She's a lovely person, & may even design something for you at a reasonable cost

I'm no tattoo artist but I'm good at art and will try and draw something up for you. I have an idea in mind, you may or may not like it and I won't be offended if you don't. :good:
 
Anne Stokes is an amazing artist! I do love her work! I love her image of death holding the woman holding her life glass/hour glass.

But it is way more complicated than I would like for a first tattoo, and it also clashes with the tattoo I ultimately want :)

Brian Froud is epic..

This is the 'Faery of Dark Despair' that I would love on my somewhere, though its so intricate it scares me!

Brian Frouds work is amazing but best of all is his book Good Faeries/Bad Faeries. Every single bit of artwork on every page of this think book is so intricate, this is a very basic crop of an image, each has hidden pictures within pictures within pictures. You can spend hours staring and an image and still see new things! And more so, he writes a 'story' for each of the beings, who they are, what they mean to him and so on, you get so drawn in....

Many artists are very approachable, & are flattered you like their work.
I know quite a few, I'm on my iPad right now, but tomorrow I'll get the laptop out & see what artists style might suit what you're looking for
It's always worth dropping them a mail to ask permission to use their work.
You could have a look on deviantart.com, as there are many amateur artists there with amazing work
 
I have spent so many hours searching im going crosseyed now LOL

I will ask about, definately glad for the heads up on artists! But would definately love it if someone on this forum could help me design what I want, it would be a lot more personal and make me really happy :)

Will email around tomorrow and start seeing what people can do, even if just to get a more basic idea in my head.

I love the idea with the ribbon, though I think the angel thing is a little overdone with regards to tattoos. Personally I'd go with Godzilla, though that may just be the guy portion of my brain thinking.

Haha I like it already.

I have an idea but im a terrible artist so its not going to look very good. Ill draw it up when I get home from work.

Personally, I really like tattoos that have meaning and I am truly touched by this one. Check your PM's and let me know.
 
Lol oh just wondered after the post about me killing plants getting rid of BBA lol thought I'd inherited the worlds worst nickname for a sec lol
