Here is Calcifer's new home it is a 10g.
Wanted to change round due to various reasons, I have got more silk plants coming for him so don't worry there, we did the bottle thing on the HOB filter to slow the flow so that is good.

Half bottle wedged to ensure place to rest near the top:

Cling film used temporarily, part near filter left uncovered, any suggestions on best covers with a HOB filter in the way would be grateful, something see through as light hangs above:

He seems a little dazed but relatively ok! Also the betta food finally arrived, he ate one of the 3 pieces, the other two had a nibble on but then spat out, so it may take getting used to after live food and bloodworm.

Leaving light off for now as that is what he is used to and to settle in. :)

I was thinking of splitting this tank later to have two bettas, but welll.... thinking of spoiling our boy for now, plant it up good for him :)

well i have a tank with very similar light and i used perspex/acrilic lid buy from diy store and light goes through
i also have a smaller tank with a ho filter and use perspex/acrilic with the hobs shape cut out

ah brill thanks bae! I will get my man to do a little DIY for me (he is much more accurate and skilled with a blade :)). I do hope he likes his new tank, it will become more planted in the next couple of days so it does not feel so bare for him. The plastic bottle for him to rest in will probably cover with some sort of floating thing so it is not so bare.

yeah mine loves his 10 gallon

what sorts of things does your betta rest on? mine's favourite was ontop of the filter in the old tank but of course there is not such thing in this tank.

well i have loads of live plants in mine like i got em and dropped them in so its like back to the front with plants so all of them really as i have some micro rasbora, pygmy cories, and endlers and it looks a bit like rice fields swimming in and out of the leaves

Sorry being a little slow, do you mean upside down floating in the water? if so how do the plants cope, piccy? ;)

Looks Really Nice, those HOB filters are great little filters for the size.

thanks! :D

It will have some new silk plants soon! Have a nice pink one that is 12" which will be good for him to rest on. It is typical that he rests ontop of the filter even though the bottle is there. He only went in the bottle bit when changing the water slightly. Only my calci!

no sorry i have plants with waits and i just put em in and berried the bottoms in gravel and theyre thriving i also have quit good lights and co2 so they love it .

Success! We have bottle resting use in operation! LOL May try to move it abit further up so he doesn't have to swim anywhere to breath

Lovely betta tank, lovely betta, and lovely set up!
Wish my betta and tank looked like yours!

LOL thanks hun. He was only moved to that yesterday and plan to get some tall silk plants for him to rest on as it is much deeper than he is used to. He is much more himself today. To give an idea of difference here is his tank before:

It was a 3g, was originally going to split this 10g but tbh I love the fact he loves his new space, so he is going to be spoilt.

Looks great, today im going to add a few things to shimmers tank but its more tall than wide so is hard, i dont want to crowd it.

I can understand that. Get taller plants to reach above and maybe one or two soft fern things for below. It may be trial and error for you, Calcifer enjoyed squeezing his way through every nook and cranny possible. The larger tank he does not know what to do with him self and wide spaces, so am going to make more snug for him ;)

Have fun shopping!
