Hi,
Ive had a phase of whitespot recently in my tank, but think it has passed on(fingers crossed)! My plants arent doing well at all, except for the plants at the front.
I want to get a Co2 system, like the nutrafin one thats around £15. My question is ,would the c02 lower the levels of oxygen. Ive had a few losses due to a lack of o2 from meds and dont want any more losses!
MAny thanks

To a certain degree O2 and CO2 levels in water are independent. What I mean by this is that if you increase the level of CO2 then the level of O2 won't be lowered.

connorsbala,

For Co2 to be effective you need more than 2W/gallon of lighting. (i.e around 30W in your 70l tank). Check this out before you invest in it.

I reckon CO2 would be beneficial at lower lighting levels, Llj has used CO2 to great effect in some of her lower light tanks. Ok they wont be able to make as good a use of it, but it certainly cant hurt. Tom Barr says lower light CO2 tanks are some of the best, as there are less algae issues due to the light but the plants are still given all they need to grow. IMHO unless you're at very low light levels then I would aways add CO2 to a planted tank.

I also wouldn't necessarily think 30w over a 70lt is 'high light' I've got 60w over my 24USg and that's by no means high light.

Cool thanks :good:
The reason why i want it is that all my plants are dying. The light is low around 15 watts so this doesnt really help so i think the co2 will help them.
Ill be getting stuff like dwarf riccia so i want them to thrive and not die with in a week!
