I’m also sorry and I apologise. Don’t know what for but since everyone is doing it I might as well join in!!!!!!

Thanks for the info brewyn about your water changes. I am going to try the hose system next week. The real reason why I asked is because I would like to do a larger water change (over 10%) but running up and down stairs with buckets of sloppy water gets a bit long in the tooth after a while. The juwel internal filter carries the 200w heater so like you said I’m just going to trickle the cold water into the box and let the filter and heater disperse the cold water.

Next question: Do you add the stress-coat before or after you add the new water?

I put it in as I am filling, again I just pour it into the flow. Just doing my water changes now.
Glad you liked the link on the other thread, it changed my hobbie drasticaly, hence why I have a happs and seperate mbuna. did you know that yellow labs have a different diet than the rest of the mbuna? and with regards to the spiralina flake, OSI is a great balanced diet for mbuna. lovely day all. :D

theres no written rule, everyone has different ways of doing it. I do a hundred or so gallon water change every week without problems.

I wasn’t aware that Labidochromis sp. had a different diet, that is until I read the link that you posted this morning. Just goes to show you learn something new everyday, I wouldn’t say that a lot of people are aware that they have a more protein (invertebrates etc.) rich diet than the other vegetarian mbuna. I’m now going to have to change my feeding schedule and food to suite.

n.b. The 100 or so gallons a week that you change once a week is just a little under the total volume of all my tanks put together.

i BET YOU DONT GO THROUGH A TENNERS WORTH OF STRESS COAT EACH MONTH. I sometimes think its better not to know, I would probably only have the 1 tank if I had stayed ignorant to my fishes needs and requirements. plus I did only intend to have the 1 tank, went out to buy 1 and came home with 4, the smallest being 75 gallon.
