Bully Platy

I have had this platy ( female) for at least 5 months all of a sudden it's started to bully my female gouramie
Why has this started now?
240 ltr tank plenty of plants and wood
Also 4 other platys one male to 4 females plus other fish
Just can't get my head round why
Any suggestions ?

just giving you a friendly bump, cause i dont know how to help, but i hope the aggresion is over by now. i know thst some fish will attack any weaker or sick fish. if this might be what happened

In my experience Platys can be bullys. Every single one I've had has picked on another fish at some point. Yesterday after I did a WC I watched my Red Wag (only got the one Platy now)go round and chase pretty much every other fish in the tank (well, not the Pygmys). Think he thinks he's top dog now my yellow mickey has gone. Little sod.

Anyway, this isn'e helpful to you.....when you say bully - does she just chase every now and then or is she causing your Gourami stress/injury?

Causing stress but no injury yet
No changes to tank and she might be pregnant
Will keep an eye out she might be trying to be top dog perhaps one of the other fish might put here in here place..

Yeah hopefully. I find they do usually settle down. I did have to take one back to the shop once but I honestly think he had mental issues.

I've found the same problem with all the Platys i've had - all of them have been bullies even though they are supposed to be community fish. The last one was so bad I had to re-house him in the hospital tank and thats why I wont buy them anymore.

i had the same problem, i brought myself some harlequins and when i added them to my tank my 2 platys were picking on them, after a bit of time they stopped and they get along now
