-_- Does anyone use bullseye ph regulator? I heard it can make the water cloudy. Does it harm plants? I have very acid tap water and it is sometimes hard to get it to 7.0

what does your tap run at? most the time it is best to leave it alone. there are more natural ways of raising ph, you can used crushed coral in your filter to help buffer it up, or even baking soda. but let us know what is runs at first

It test at about 6.4 and very soft. I think we have a lot of phosphates in our water. I get alot of suds when I wash clothes. I usually get water from my parents house. They have about 7.4 and lower alkanity buffering capacity. It is sometimes a hassel to go and fill up water jugs.

6.4 is really not that low, most, if not all fish will adapt to that just fine, you wanna make sure you slowly acclimate them to it, but it should be ok. if you were still worried about it i would go get a bag of crushed coral, and either use it for a substrate, or put it in a bag and place it in your filter.

Are you trying to raise the ph for any specific reason?
Well when I do water changes I wanted to make it 7.0 that is where I have it right now. I was just wondering about the product bullseye and if it was any good. But my water has so much phosphates in it that I go to my parents for water.

Really you don't need to mess with ph, it is harmful if antything. Bullseye in my opinion is a waste of money. Don't let anyone anywhere talk you into buying chemicals or get you to try to mess with the ph. As long as the ph is constant the fish will be healthy. Unless you have a specific fish that needs a specific ph range in order to thrive or breed, its best to leave the ph be.

Ok thanks I will leave well enough alone.

jsut out of curiosity, how do you know your water has high levels of phosphates? have you tested, or what.

I would kill for water with a pH of 6.4 and soft, you dont know how lucky you are :(
Just add a couple of teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda (baking powder) to the fresh water before adding it back to your tank to stabilise the KH and you will have very happy and successfull fish keeping.
