Hi
Can I just ask, what is the purpose of Betta barracks? Is it to actually home them in?

Changed my mind on solid dividers. I had the rather ingenius idea of egg-crate. Solid, safe and very porous but then thought of how to cover up the fact it was egg-crate which would be kind of unattractive. I'm going to grow Java Moss on the dividers and make Java walls.

Eggcrate isn't a good ideas; you would be taking a risk of the bettas fins passing through and the other betta nipping it. It also doesn't obstruct the view very well even with java moss. A risk not worth taking seeing a betta could probably sneek through it.

MermaidMel,
Yes, it is used to actually house the bettas. This way I don't have to have 6 individual 2 gallon tanks scattered all over the place. Plus this way the water is heated and will be hooked up to a filter.

Sounds really fab!!

Instead of eggcrate, you might try the plastic canvas crafters use. The grid is small enough that no one can get through, but large enough for good water flow, it's also fairly rigid. I used it to divide my 10gal.

Stuff does work well.. Just make sure you silicone it in place... had one squeeze itself past, and get ripped to shreads by his roommate.

Actually the plastic canvas that you are talking about is the stuff I plan on siliconing in the tank :)

Just make sure that you get some of decent quality as some of the cheaper kinds do not have distinguising holes. In the process of molding the sheets some of the residule plastic covers up the holes.

I already have the canvas stuff too. Works great in my filters to keep floss where it belongs. I had thought about it but dismissed it as too flimsy although giving it more thought it should be rigid enough provided it's cut properly.

I think the eggcrate would actually work if you let the java moss grow for a month before puttin it in. If you make sure its a tight fit, you wont even need silicone
