HI luque, i take it you are using a yeast kit, if so the smaller the bubbles the better if you dont have a diffuser you could direct the bubbles straight into the the filter in take, regards john

sorry to highjack, but could you use an airstone to disperse the c02?

I use a DIY yeast kit and have fed the CO2 'out' pipe directly into my filter intake. I get a fine mist of tiny bubbles out of my lily pipe as a result - and about 20 - 30 ppm in my 20gal. I found this method to be much better than using a ladder, with the bonus of less clutter in the tank.

As for the airstone idea - I think you may need to use a CO2 disperser although it looks exactly like an airstone and AE do them for £4.99. It might actually be an airstone for all I know though! I'd like to know as I could fit that into my intake pipe as well to make even smaller bubbles.

Good luck

yeah i saw the dispersers and i was like... airstones do exactly the same, and i have about 5 in the atic lol. so i thought i might as well ask, get rid of the ugly ladder lol.

The bubbles produced by an airstone are too big and rise up through the water too quickly to dissolve effectively. A diffuser produces very small bubbles that diffuse very rapidly.

i have one of those ladders.
So its good that it's doing this?

cheers luke

Yes! That's exactly what a ladder is supposed to do! If the bubble is small at the top than at the bottom it means the Co2 has dissolved into the water :)
