I know quite a bit about my gouramis but i haven't had one that has done this before
My male honey gourami has only recently got his breeding colours
the morning they were fully developed he took a lady aside and got jiggy with her
but he hasn't built a bubble nest
he just does the business and then collects the eggs in his mouth and put them near the baby net
so i've just been scouping the loose eggs out and putting them in the net

---- got lots of little wrigglys now

Do you think it's cos he is so young that he's not building a nest ?
he's mating with every female in the tank so he's not backwards in comming forwards

he's mating away from the net so i dont think he's seeing it as a nest as they mate under the nest and the eggs drift up into the nest
then he saves ones that dont and seals them with bubbles

i wonder if a betta person has had this with their betta

I had a male a few years ago that never built a bubble nest. He put the eggs between the heater cable and the glass - not just once but several times. In his case though, they did mate just next to his hiding place. This was a community tank, so the eggs had always disappeared the following day.

hmm, i have a little q to (im sorry tht nobody is replying to your q pipoodle, wish i could help) however im too new with the whole thing.

yeah so my little q is, if the male and female go a breeding colour, do they have to build a bubble nest? sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but iv had my gouramis for a week and 3 days now and they are still in breeding colour, but still havent seen no bubble nest.

this normal?
