Bubble Nest ?

My new betta "bubbles" I got him yesurday and he was so full of life. Now he seems to be going through the sulking stage of things - Poor guy. Though I have noticed he is staying in the same Corner of the tank (Top right) though I have also notice and few bubbles coming from his area... It couldnt be the filter because he only just happened, also the filter current doesnt go that way. Could this be a attempt to a bubble nest ? Also its not fixed to the side of the tank, do bubble nests have to ?

Hehe so you named him bubbles eh? Cute I'm not sure if a bubble nest has to stick to the side of the tank but all the ones i have seen do. I think Radish may be attempting one too!! Has Bubbles perked up any?

hi..bubble nests usually do stick to the sides unless there are leaves or other things floating that they can make them under. the few that youve seen may also be him gulping and a few escape when he goes back to his spot. if he is bubblenesting you will see it. usually in the morning when you go look at them, thyve spent the night making one. its fun when they do. but not all bettas make them. even happy healthy ones. my old boy hasnt made one in months he used to make them a ffew times a week.
i hope your boy comes around for you soon. the sulking might last a few more days. but perhaps not. is he swimming and exploring at all and then going back to that one spot to rest? that is quite normal! they seem to have their favorite spot in the tank...lots of times its resting on the heater.

Radish made one this morning

It's so lovely to wake up in the morning to find one of your little boys made his momma a bubble nest

he is staying on his fav spot. Its in a corner, though he is starting to swim about when he thinks no one is looking lol. What a cheeky little thing. The bubbles are in groups, not just a off bubble here and there. There is alot of plants and no current where he is trying to build it (If he is building one) Im trying to get hold of boyfriend to see how he is and how the bubbles are coming along. Why do they make bubble nests if there is no female present ?

How wired that ours is both the same name lol (aimsley)

Sounds like he could be preparing to make one. Radish started like that yeststerday, i'd say check in the morning and you never know

They just do it when they're comfortable with their environment. All of my boys have one, big and small!

Well turns out it wasnt a nest after all. Just a few odd bubbles or from fliter haha...

Yeah I hope so... Kieren said that Bubbles is getting along fine and is swimming about a little more etc. Though I bet when I go round there tomorrow he was go into sulking stage again lol

Haha yea but he'l come round. I've discoverd The Captain will only be hand fed!! And even then he gets moody if it's not my other half doing it lol

Well mines a little shy at the mo to even think about it. I tried but he didnt take a liking to my fingers and shot off to hind. Will try again when he seems to settle down and come out of 'sulking'
