I have a FE based CO2 feed, which I am really pleased with, however when the solenoid switches off the water leaves the bubble counter and is sucked back towards the extinguisher. There is an inline valve so it does not go all the way. Also, although I filled it with water, every time I leave 24 hours and come back there is very little water in the bubble counter although the diffuser is still getting gas.

Any idea what's going on or what the solution is?

Do you have a check valve on either side of the bubble counter?

I put mine between the counter and diffuser, that way if any comes from the counter into the line its returned when the CO2 switches on and it stops back syphoning from your tank.

Thanks for the comments, I have actually replaced the bubble counter with a second needle valve which came with the regulator (which also has one), this has allowed greater flow of bubbles, and I can tell from the tiny bubbles coming out of the diffuser what the flow rate is!
