hi all,

Ok, I have a brush algae infestation in my tank. Not quite sure why it has appeared, probably a combination of some direct sunlight in my tank lately, stopping using flourish excel for a few weeks and then starting again, a trim back of some of my plants, an over stocked tank.

Anyway, whats the best remedy? I have tried removing affected leaves but it hasnt got rid of it all and I am sure it will come back. I do have some old algae removal treatment, but I have never used it and not sure I want to. I have seen some true siamese algae eaters that I could buy one of to help clean up, but then this would cause even more overstocking.

I could remove all the plants and start again, but I have a rather fine growth of java moss (that is also getting covered in brush algae) that I dont want to ruin.

Whats your best advice? Another complication is my tap water is high in nitrate too!
