Brown stuff growing in tank

Hi guys, i have brown stuff theat has started to grow over my ornaments. It seems to spread very slowly but it is spreading.

Does anyone know what this could be? Also how do i solve this problem?

In the tank are a breeding pair of jewel cichlids and their fry.

brown algea is actually not an algea; it is diatoms

the best way to get rid is increasing the light levels, either add more light or keep existing lights on longer.
algea eating fish love it as do apple snails.

i had intense "brown algae" problems for a long long time. i got a sailfin pleco and my brown algae problems disappeared. the pleco ate every little bit of it.
