Okay.. so my 55 has been established for quite some time.. but almost biweekly my glass gets so dirty from almost a brown algea.. and i squeegee it off.. just wondering what it's coming from or if it's harmful?

Not harmful, but I couldn't tell you what it's coming from other than too much light. Otos are excellent for clearing up brown algae, as are nerite snails. :)

I have my lights on 7 hours a day.. 35% WC weekly.. idk..

I have 2 tanks in the same room with the same light "on" time, but I still get brown on the glass of only 1 tank.
Thats with a water change every week and nearly perfect water stats.

Just clean it off or as above, get ottos.

No clue why I only get it in 1 tank though lol.

otto's will get eaten in a cichlid tank?

I wouldn't think so, but get someone else's opinion first. You could also get Nerite snails. They are great for algae.
