Hi all,
I was just cleaning my filter media last night...then I put it all back together and nothng works. I've tried various things and it simply isn't working. And yes I've checked and changed the amp etc.

So whilst I get a new filter it looks like I won't get one until Thursday due to no LFS so I have to get one delivered. Is the best thing to do to perform a 20% water change each day?

Thanks, Andy

Basically keep an eye on the stats i.e. ammonia etc.

The most important things are that you are still putting oxygen in the water, are you doing that still ?
Also keep the filter media in the fish tank / water from tank, otherwise the bacteria will die and you will start a cycle again :(

i would think over 2 days it would be OK - but best check to be sure.

If your tank is heated then put a household fan blowing on to the surface, this will help provide water movement and therefore oxygen.
I'd do more than 20% daily, better safe than sorry....

OK. I still have a 12 inch airstone in the tank. I recently decided not to use it any more, but it will provide the water movement I need to oxygenate the water.

I've spoken to the supplier who I purchased my Fluval 3 from and they're just as baffled as me. But they're sending me out a new head whilst they have a look at mine (when i send it back).

I'll also be doing daily water changes until the new head arrives. Cheers guys!

That should be OK.

Is it new ? have you tried taking the impeller out and cleaning the magnet ?

yup just what germ said (learning well my young apprentice!! lol)

monitor ammonia and nitrite levels, water changes should be maybe 30/40% to keep them below 1ppm

It's only about two months old. I've had a long frustrating time trying to get it working and I can't explain what's happened. I bet you when i send it back they'll get it out of the box and it will be working!!!

After reading a recent thread here debating if Fluval or Eheim is better I thought this might be a sign that I should buy an Eheim (I was thinking about the Aquaball 2210). But thinking about it these types of internal filters have such simple mechanisms I thinkt hat if something is wrong with my filter is is hopefully a one off.

Hehe - sods law that...

I have a fluval 3+ for mechanical and an Eheim 2237 or something as my biological. They have both been fine really. Probably youve just had some bad luck with it
