Brodie is a bit quiet and his tummy is larger than normal. Cleaned him out last night and he hasnt pooed...so that is the problem. He had half a pea mushed up, but still hasnt been. Tried to get live food but no one has any. He just looks miserable...should I try epsom salts or leave it a bit? Thanks!

i haven't run into this problem yet, but i know a couple of people have said to fast the fish for a couple of days and then try peas. maybe wait a day or two?

Dont feed him for a few days, give him chance for his insides to clear out, if he keeps eating on top of that he will block even more.
After a few days he will have *hopefully* gone down then try the pea again.
Goodluck!

OK I will try not to look at him asking for food :hyper: he is lively though... :good:

It's hard to fast them, I know!! Those pleading eyes... but keep telling yourself that you're doing it for him.

Max had one bout of constipation so far (and hopefully the last)... I fasted for 24hrs and noticed his tummy went down (must have poo'd) so I then fed him a tiny piece of frozen (and thawed) pea. I followed with feeding him just 3 pellets that first day. I now have been feeding both Max & Ruby just 4-5 pellets a day. Every other day, I substitute one of the servings with equal amount of frozen (and thawed) bloodworms. I also feed a small piece of pea 1-2x per week for good measure. So far... no constipation since!
