I just got some adorable baby BN's! I did not add any caves to the tank, and I have noticed that they are burrowing their own caves under my branching wood where it lays on the sand. SO cute and smart. It also saves me from having to add anything unnatural to the tank.

I added some zucchini yesterday and this morning, funnily enough I noticed they have burrowed underneath it. Next time I put some in I might face it downwards for them

See the hole under the wood? that used to be touching the sand. I love these guys, but how far will they dig as they grow?

although they are attempting to make their own, do try to provide them with some more places to hide, whether that be pieces of wood with nice gaps/crevices, slate caves etc. They do like to hide away when they want to.

Also, I found that when I moved to white sand from black gravel my male became much more skittish when I appraoched the tank and would quickly zip away to his favourite cave. I imagine he felt more secure blending in on the darker substrate.

Thanks for the tips. I will want to pop in some slate caves for them because this burrowing will not be good when they start growing. {slate is natural enough for me, I just didn't want coconut caves in here which don't look normal} I would have some slate ones already but I'm having a hard time finding it locally.

I always planned on a darker substrate, I hate the play sand!!! I am moving this winter so it has to wait until then. It's too bad too because this is my high tech planted so the lights are pretty bright.

My angels have not really come out and settled in yet. I was hoping it would go a little better. My last angels took a few weeks and then would meet me at the glass every time, so I'll be patient. They look great at least and the damage to their fins during shipping is already mostly healed in just a week.

How often to you feed you BN's veggies?

my two BN have occassionally burrowed so much that they've kicked clouds of cat litter (under my sand) into the water, turning it a nice milky white......it's always handy to have some filter floss laying around :)

I feed slices of veg a couple fo times a week. Have tried raw bell pepper, cucumber, boiled mini corn, apple, mango and boiled broccoli.....they've eaten them all.
