Hi Everyone,

I've recently taken up tropical fish keeping as a hobby and I've found a lot of useful information from this forum already, so first of all thanks to everyone who runs and contribues to it!

I have a couple of questions for you...

I have a 165ltr Aqua One 850 tank with an overhead filter, and the following fish:

11 x Neon Tetras
1 x Bristlenose Catfish
2 x Cobalt Blue Angels
2 x Dwarf Neon Royal Blue Gouramis
4 x While Clour Mountain Minnows (water is at 25ͨ, I realise these are suited to water a bit cooler but they were in a friends tiny overstocked tank and could hardly move, and they seem very happy in their new home)

I do 25/30% water changes on a weekly basis and I have sand as a substrate.

1st Question...

I've read a few opinions on over-stocking and also about the 1 inch per gallon rule, including how depending on your fishes' other dimensions the rule can sometimes be misleading. I really would like to get some Panda Corys as a final addition, and I've read the minimum you should get is 5-6, i'm a little worried the tank might be a bit overstocked (all the fish are quite young at the moment and nowhere near max size), I'd value anyones opinion on this.

2nd Question...

Since getting the Angels and Gouramis, my Bristlenose won't come out from under her piece of driftwood, day or night. Usually she would be out regularly at night on the side of the tank etc but not seen her do this day or night for the past couple of weeks. I've put in algae pellets and cucumber and I've not seen her touch them, however the Angels and Gouramis fight over the pellets which I wasn't expecting, literally chasing each other away and nipping tails. I'm not sure what to do about this, if anyone can give me any good advise on getting the Bristlenose out a little more that would be great.

Thanks Everyone

I have a similar problem with my Honey gourami and my clown pleco... the gourami is a pig and goes for the food while the clown never comes out anymore. THERE MUST BE AND EXPLANATION FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have always had the same problem with my orange spotted plec.. He is very shy. I hardly ever see him/her. He is not scared or shy of tank mates.... Just me lol
